Make it Happen

I get asked a lot.
How do you fit it all in, How do you not collapse in exhaustion.

If you want something so badly, you make it happen.
Im up before the sun everyday single day. Yes I train 6 days week, some more intense than others.
Sometimes twice in day if they’re light sessions, like pt and yoga.
My home gym is a mix of products from Kmart, the op shop and gumtree and giveaways.

I work around my sons schedule and my work.
I train intensely on my days off, Im very blessed to be able to work 3 long days a week and study on the others as well.

But you make it happen. When my son is at his dads, I walk in the door after a long day at work, change and go running for an hour.
I do this on auto pilot, no distractions
When he’s at his dads every second weekend, I get up at 4am and I head bush for a few hours with my best friend Jess.
This is part of our normality.

Fact is my goal In October is to run 70klm at KillKaze ,self navigated in under 10 hours.
You don’t achieve that by making excuses. You don’t get that by sleeping in.
You achieve that by sheer dedication and determination, by learning to believe in yourself and believing in your training and the support people you have.

You have to surround yourself with people who may not get your dreams, but they will support you anyway. ( im sure my mums thinks Im on the way to the insane asylum) But she supports me anyway.
I have an incredible support system, the people I work with, the comments I receive, they’re all part of my training, You guys pick me up when Im down, the comments and laughs make my day. My training partners Laura, Melody, Jess are beyond epic.
My coach and friend Karen, who has taught me so much already.
Kerryann, who inspires me daily and got me started on this crazy path, less than 12 months ago.
Thanks for being my friend and mentor in so many ways
Jen and Leah for always listening and the advice you always give

My son loves to ride his bike or we do a fun run as we call, we jog, laugh, giggle and sometimes trip over our dogs, Waggs and Lola
But training is fun and its contagious, He wants to UTA kids next year, so he’s training for a 1klm race and he’s so excited.
Im so proud to be his role model and inspiration.

Fact is:
Its bloody hard work, but you have to do the work if you want that goal.
No I won’t stop, it may be 70 at KillKaze this year, next year I want the 50klm medal at Ultra-Trail Australia, the following year it may be Tarawera Ultramarathon or Ultra-Trail Australia 100klm.
I want to beat my time Riverwood Downs Trail Run.
I want to improve on everything I do.
The list is endless, so is the training.
Its hard and its long, but its worth it.

Thanks for all your Support
Monique
